Matt Smith's leaving Doctor Who, and Mutter's Spiral Podcast is awash in speculation, wishcasting and left-field scenarios for the Fall of the Eleventh and the subsequent regeneration into the TWELFTH. Will has several out-of-the-box ideas, starting with JENNA4DOCTOR12 - Jenna Coleman becomes the 12th Doctor. He continues with 2 variations of a TENNANT SCENARIO that would lead to the return of David Tennant to the TARDIS.

John then leads us through the various contenders mentioned in the press, and he very cogently and smartly sums up what is needed in the next Doctor. After he details the names everyone's saying, he then comes through with two GREAT "out there" ideas, including one so diabolical that it's worthy of Steven Moffat himself.

This week, Paul and Phil review the 5th Doctor story from the AudioGo Destiny Of The Doctor series entitled Smoke and Mirrors.  In a tale featuring Houdini and the Master, all Phil can think about is how disappointed he was in Adric not receiving a terrible mauling at the claws of a big cat.  However despite this, Phil & Paul have a fairly good time listening to this story read by Janet Fielding.

And in a longer than usual news section this week, the main topic of conversation is of course about Matt Smith leaving the series after the Christmas special, the ridiculous rumours of who will be the 12th Doctor and the Who's He? Podcast gets political by looking at an official YouGov poll on Doctor Who which makes for terrifying reading.

Another week and still no new Doctor Who. The long 6-month wait for the 50th Anniversary Special means speculation about the show's future in the form of the next actor (or will it be actress?) to play The Doctor. But it's not all bad as there are always stats to be had, always new Doctor Who merchandise to be discussed and/or mocked and of course talk of DVDs and just how lucky we are as Doctor Who fans to have the Restoration Team.
