Gallifrey Public Radio - A Doctor Who PodcastOh, to be the middle child. Often forgotten, overlooked, disregarded, considered to be the “least likely to be a problem”. Such a moniker could be a curse upon the bearer — or a call to action. Sometimes, the “not oldest” and “not youngest” chooses to be something more. Something…enigmatic. (Oh, and sometimes they just become Jan Brady.) This week, we look to the second component of Moffat’s final trilogy, “The Pyramid At the End of the World”. The Doctor is […]

Ep 71 - The Pyramid At The End Of The World
GeeklecticThis week, we discuss the second part of "the Monk trilogy" - The Pyramid At The End Of The World. Clay comes back to discuss Gallifrey One guests, and then vanishes like a thief in the night so he can avoid spoilers. Speaking of spoilers, this episode includes discussion about the Care Bears, professional wrestling in the 1990s, and why nitpicking is okay when *we* do it. 0:00 - 1:12 - Opening song parody 1:12 - 1:32 - Intro 1:32 - 12:00 - Gallifrey One discussion 12:00 - 14:40 - Synopsis and opening thoughts 14:40 - 35:49 - Discussion part one 35:50 - 39:32 - "Kids Talk Who" 39:33 - 1:04:32 - Discussion part two 1:04:32 - 1:05:57 - Outro All clips (c) BBC *except* for the one near the end, but that's still covered under fair use, so there.

MUTTER'S SPIRAL Podcast 131 - "The Pyramid at the End of the World"
Mutter's Spiral PodcastMUTTER'S SPIRAL Podcast 131 talks all about "The Pyramid at the End of the World", written by Peter Harness & Steven Moffat, directed by Daniel Nettheim. It's part 2 of the "Monks" trilogy, and, candidly, it's not our favorite. John and I discuss what worked, what didn't, and the big flaws we each found in the episode. We will go into various theories we have, as well as real world issues that affected the creation of this episode, while holding out hope that Part 3 next week (and Toby Whithouse) can save this story.
There's also discussion of the first batch of guests announced for 2018's Gallifrey One convention - classic stars, new series stars, writers, directors, and annual favorites of us all! Gally may be 9 months away, but we are already eagerly anticipating it!
Of course, there's trivia (7 questions this week), a brief news recap, and a cat named Puncher makes his podcast debut! Please take a listen!

Episode 93: The Pyramid at the End of the World OR Air Water Food Beer
PodcasticaOh, Doctor, where are we headed? John and Taylor delve into a cracker of an episode that shows how the smallest of choices have a tremendous impact and how the Doctor's own hubris leads to one helluva choice! But did the Monks see that coming all along? That, Who News, Gallifrey One news, and a cameo from Taylor's cat!

Metebelis 2 #44 - Biohazards Venting
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2In this week's episode, Ben and David discuss the middle story in Series 10's Monk Trilogy, "The Pyramid at the End of the World." Sifting through the heavy-handed plot to find the diamonds hidden in the rough. Is this biotech worst lab in Britain or a sign of things to come post-Brexit? Intro music is from Murray Gold's series 8 composition, "Hello, Hello", a variation of which was the intro for last week. The closing song is "I Can See Clearly Now" from 1972 written and sung by Johnny Nash.

Who's He? Podcast #271 All my past and futures
Who's He?In this episode Phil and Paul tackle The Pyramid at the End of the World, the latest in this series of Doctor Who. Well, it had to end didn't it? Not the world, the run of outstanding episodes! Unfortunately neither Paul nor Phil can find many niceties to say regarding this story featuring the most inept scientific laboratory committed to TV and an endless list of coincidences that neither of them find believable. And Phil really has it in for anyone wearing a beret badly.
And in the news, Doctor Who will reach at least series 15 and will be shown in China, the BBC Store is to close, Rachel Talalay is to direct the Christmas Special and there is a truncated Omega's Stats Corner.

The Doctor Who Show S02 E05 - Season 27, Big Finish Style
The Doctor Who ShowFollowing our April episode where Dave ran proceedings without Rob (to change things up while the weekly S10 review episodes are going out), this time Rob runs the whole shebang without Dave.
Mike Solko (last heard in our rather popular "This is the one: The DW Show Presents: Gallifrey One" special), steps in to co-host from his headquarters in sunny Southern California.
After some Series 10 chat and a listener email from @fishy_wanda that the boys discuss at length, chat turns to Season 27 and in particular the audio interpretations of it from 2011.
If you've heard the Big Finish audios, Thin Ice, Crime of the Century, Animal, and Earth Aid, you will be right at home.
If you've seen the documentary ENDGAME on the classic era Survival DVD, you will be pretty much at home here, too.
If you've read the article '27 Up' in Doctor Who Magazine #255 from August 1997, you'll be able to keep up with proceedings, too.
If you haven't done ANY of these things, you'll still likely enjoy the chat, and learn a few things along the way, but will be quite spoilt on Season 27 and Big Finish's interpretation of it.
Dare ye enter? See you inside... if you dare. Mwahahahahaha.
THIN ICE: Moscow 1967. The Doctor and Ace have arrived behind the Iron Curtain, and the Soviet Union is seeking a new weapon that will give it mastery in the Cold War. What is the secret of the Martian relics? As the legendary War Lord Sezhyr returns to life, the Doctor is faced with some of his oldest and deadliest enemies. The fate of Earth - and the future of Ace - are now intertwined...
CRIME OF THE CENTURY: The year is 1989. In London, safe cracker Raine Creevy breaks into a house - and finds more than the family jewels. In the Middle East, the kingdom of Sayf Udeen is being terrorised by Soviet invaders and alien monsters. And on the Scottish border, a highly guarded facility contains an advanced alien weapon. These are all part of the Doctor's masterplan. But masterplans can go awry...
ANIMAL: Margrave University in 2001, and Raine Creevy is enjoying her first trip into the future. For the Doctor, there are mysteries to solve: what are the alien creatures imprisoned in the science labs? And what are the true motives of the student Scobie and his followers? With enemies on all sides, the Doctor teams up with his old friend Brigadier Bambera and the forces of UNIT in a battle for the future of the whole world.
EARTH AID: Welcome aboard the space vessel Vancouver. Its mission: to guard a vast shipment of grain from Earth to the planet Safenesthome. Its Captain is called Ace. She seems a little unsure of herself. In fact, some might almost think she was new to the job. Its medical officer is called simply 'The Doctor', and he's perhaps not all he seems either. When mysterious ships target the Vancouver, Ace and the Doctor are pushed to the limit. Meanwhile, there's something nasty in the grain containers. And it's not very happy...
