Welcome to the Stace and Barry kinda but not really Halloween special.

The dynamic duo also unveil a new segment 'Behind the Book Corner with Stace'. The only small problem is Stace has no idea what the segment is about before she tackles 'Authority' the second book in the Southern Reach Trilogy.

So, on this episode, I continue my journey through my 'Spark Joy' series with a little story that gives me so much happiness: 'K-9 and Company'!

Now this is basically a bit of a Halloween episode (albeit a day-ish late due to some unforeseen technical issues), as well as a bit of an early Christmas episode, so there's all sort of festivities within. Well, if you count me going on quite a bit about the goddess Hekate, witchcraft, retro swingers, my love of a silly robot dog, and squee about past companions returning – then, yes, definitely a big ole party of squeeful geekiness to behold! ('Have you met the French? My god, they know how to party.')

So, put on your party hats, get out your noise-makers, and maybe even don some long black witch-y robes, and enjoy the ride! I'm so glad to have you all aboard again on this Spooky Love Train! #choochoo

(00:39:22) “Ghost Town” is a song by the British two-tone band the Specials, released on 12 June 1981. The song spent three weeks at number one and 10 weeks in total in the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart. Addressing themes of urban decay, deindustrialisation, unemployment and violence in inner cities, the song is remembered for being a hit at the same time as riots were occurring in British cities. Internal tensions within the band were also coming to a head when the single was being recorded, resulting in the song being the last single recorded by the original seven members of the group before splitting up. However, the song was hailed by the contemporary UK music press as a major piece of popular social commentary, and all three of the major UK music magazines of the time awarded “Ghost Town” the accolade of “Single of the Year” for 1981. Dozens of comments attested to the film’s power and lasting impact on 1970s children.

In this episode, we look at First Doctor actors William Hartnell and Richard Hurndall in the films, Midnight at Madame Tussaud’s and I, Monster respectively.  Then we turn our attention to the French/British psycho-thriller, Afraid of the Dark featuring Eighth Doctor actor, Pual McGann.

And some news this week about the announcement of the release of another animated offering from the classic series.

Waffle On About Salem's Lot

What a cracker of a Halloween episode the boys have for you this month. First a quick chat about the recent box office smash 'Joker' then a brief talk about some tv shows and then they delve into this classic horror tv series 'Salem's Lot'. Yes they cover the original tv series version starring David Soul and James Mason. 

A bonus Halloween treat is at the end of the show as well, the traditional song (Silver Lady by David Soul) and a spooky Halloween reading of The Tell tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and read by..... James Mason.

The boys along with the guests of Waffle On will be mooching around a pub in Birmingham in the new year for a Waffle On drink and all are invited. Details to follow in our January episode. As usual come and join our Facebook group for up to date info and chat.
