#139 - Cheese and Pickle Sandwiches and Laser Shoes
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2In which Ben deals with the cold, harsh reality that the Kasaavin really weren't the Vardans in disguise and David dwells on founding fathers of Gallifrey and how it could relate to the United States. Yes, this week the conclusion of Spyfall is discussed this week complete with historical cameos from Charles Babbage and almost replacement fam: Ada Lovelace, and Noor Inayat Khan. Plus Ben reads Sacha Dhawan's lovely Instagram post where he wrote about being cast as the Master. Opening music is by Segun Akinola from the Spyfall, part 2 soundtrack. Closing music is the timeless "Master's Theme" composed by Dudley Simpson.

Two-minute Time Lord"Spyfall Part Two" was a strong conclusion to the opening Series 12 two-parter, but there was one creative decision I'm wary of, and another that really should have been done differently.

283: The Twitspace (Arachnids in the UK)
Trust Your DoctorAll of America is the twitspace.
I just realized how weird it is that the villain in a UK story is an American. There’s probably more to that now that I think about it, something about how America gained its independence and now the UK hates them or something. It’s Arachnids in the UK, written by Chris Chibnall and aired on October 28, 2018.
Show-notes:
2:12: Article about George Lucas’ original ideas for the sequel trilogy.
3:56: Triple Play: A Movie Trilogy Podcast
10:50: Obviously I was just joking here, but a quick skim of the Tardis wiki reminded me that the Master’s plan in Time-Flight was something along the lines of using the Tardis’ energy to break out of some alternate dimension. Also here’s (one version of) that meme with Gru from Despicable Me.
13:46: Yeah I still have no idea what this was supposed to be or what it is. According to the Doctor Who wiki, he said pakora, but that’s not what it sounded like at all.

27:26: Inevitable: A Classic Sci-Fi Podcast
40:02: Pretty sure it was grime.

Terminus Podcast -- Episode 34 – The Spark Joy Series: Worth the Monsters: The Girl in the Fireplace
Terminus: A Doctor Who PodcastSo, this admittedly might not be the episode you were expecting from me right now – though I can assure you that me chatting about my 'Spyfall' feels is coming soon! HANG IN THERE!
But no, on this episode, instead I continue on with my journey through my 'Spark Joy' series – perhaps for the last time for quote a while? -- with a story I love muchly: 'The Girl in the Fireplace'!
Inside, you'll hear me going on and on for AGES (LONGEST. EPISODE. EVER?) -- all just full of squee and passion (I JUST LOVE THIS STORY, OK?!), with a side of (bleeped) cussing, some meta thoughts about things like polyamory and the nature of the Doctor/Companion relationship, tons and tons of frothing shippiness, and, admittedly, some not-so-nice feels about Rose Tyler thrown in here and there for good measure (sorry in advance!).
So, anyway, hold onto your hats, everyone, and enjoy the ride! I'm so glad to have you all aboard – yet again! -- on this Love Train! #choochoo

#138 - Get That Beard Growing
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2With 2020 upon us all, it is great to see the return of Doctor Who to BBC One with a new adventure, Spyfall, part one! Ben explains his reasoning why he thinks those shimmery aliens are Vardans, while a skeptical David suggests perhaps they're Gallifreyans from an alternative universe; and is time and space big enough for both Lenny Henry and Sacha Dhawan? Opening and closing music is from the Spyfall soundtrack by Segun Akinola.

After (checks notes) six months away? Wow. Um... Brandon and Danica are back, because Doctor Who is also back! And holy HECK was it exciting. Anyhow, Spyfall is dope, and you can listen to us fight a timer in order to describe what the sweet hell just happened. Also, we won an award for being the best comic store in Canada, so EAT BUTTS other comic shops! Shut up, YOU'RE drunk.
(Also, apologies for the lack of even the BARE MINIMUM of editing we usually do: GarageBand keeps freezing. Delightful.)
