And here at the turn of the tide we come back to you.

Right now we've got the Lord of the Rings nod out of the way we can crack on. Monts and Nuge pull off a Christmas miracle by managing to squeeze in an episode before the end of the year.

The lads throw out their normal formatting to just have a catch up on everything they've watched and read over the last few months.

Nuge suggests a radical solution to spoilers (and no it has nothing to do with time travel).

Doctor Who must not go on.

When I saw the title for this episode the first time I was convinced it was some sort of monument to Casper the friendly ghost. Like it was going to be something super cool about this cartoon character. In hindsight I’m starting to think that would be the weirdest crossover in existence, but I kind of want to see if they could make it work. It’s The Ghost Monument, written by Chris Chibnall and aired on October 14, 2018.

Our farewell last week was so heartbreaking that we decided to sneak in one last episode before Christmas. So, here are Terry Wogan and John Barrowman to introduce a heartwarming episode of Flight Through Entirety, in which Nathan and James are joined by Steven B and Dan from New to Who to discuss the 2007 Children in Need special, Time Crash.

    See you at Christmas!

A festive shout-out to Elizabeth Sandifer from TARDIS Eruditorum, whose essay on Time Crash James has been reading behind Nathan’s back.

    Follow us

Nathan is on Twitter as @nathanbottomley and James is @ohjamessellwood. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam, and the strings performance was by Jane Aubourg. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast.

Steven and Dan are two of the hosts of the New to Who podcast, which discusses Classic Doctor Who stories which might be of interest to New Series fans. You can follow New to Who on Twitter at @NewToWhoPodcast, and you should immediately subscribe to the podcast in your podcatcher of choice.

We’re also on Facebook, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on iTunes, or we’ll (rather hypocritically) make snarky remarks about that bald patch that you think we haven’t noticed.

    And more

You can find Jodie into Terror, our flashcast on Series 11 of Doctor Who, at jodieintoterror.com, at @JodieIntoTerror on Twitter, on Apple Podcasts, and wherever podcasts can be found. We’re planning to return in the New Year with our ill-considered hot takes on Series 12.

Our James Bond commentary podcast is called Bondfinger, and you can find that at bondfinger.com, at @bondfingercast on Twitter, on Apple Podcasts, and everywhere else as well. We’ve already recorded a Very Special Christmas Bondfinger, which should turn up in your feed any day now.

The Doctor Who Show has made occasional forays into Star Wars content, in some way paying tribute to the podcast’s original incarnation, Who Wars; the world's first and to our understanding still the only Star Wars and Doctor Who mash-up podcast to have ever existed.

Rogue One, The Last Jedi and Solo... we've done 'em all upon release.

In this episode, Rob and Dave are joined by Richard to talk about the ninth film in the Star Wars saga and the alleged end of the Skywalker saga, The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (also known as Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker) is a 2019 American epic space-opera film produced, co-written, and directed by J. J. Abrams. It is the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017), and the final episode of the nine-part "Skywalker saga".

It was produced by Lucasfilm and Abrams's production company Bad Robot Productions, and was distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film's ensemble cast includes Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong'o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, Ian McDiarmid, and Billy Dee Williams.

After the new trilogy was announced following Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, it was originally reported that The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson would write the script for Episode IX. In August 2015, Colin Trevorrow was hired to direct the film while constant-collaborator Derek Connolly would co-write a new script (both would eventually receive story credit with Abrams and Chris Terrio). In September 2017, Trevorrow left the project following creative differences with producer Kathleen Kennedy, and a few days later, it was announced that Abrams had been hired to return. Principal photography began in August 2018 at Pinewood Studios in England, and wrapped in February 2019; post-production was completed on November 24, 2019.

The Rise of Skywalker had its world premiere in Los Angeles on December 16, 2019, and was theatrically released in the United States on December 20, 2019. The film received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising its celebration of the entire saga and others considering it unimaginative and not bold enough.

Episode 82 - Praise God not only for delivering a Son unto the World, but also the latest Christmas episode of the 42 to Doomsday podcast! The Grinch's (a.k.a) Rob and Mark along with Dave and Richard are back to help you celebrate the season of good (s)will with the right amount of cheer! We talk about the impact of the Chibnall/Whitaker era, one year on, what do we consider the best series of the classic era, take a look back at the Virgin and BBC books Uncle Terrance wrote during the 1990s, pump up our 2019 Fanwank of the Year Awards, read your letters and tweets and then punch 2019 in the proverbial on the way out. Gasp as Rob almost bursts an artery during the intro, dine out on Dave's erudite take down of The Space Museum, ponder Richard's love for the Hinchcliffe era before finally revealing has Mark watched anything anything of Series 11 past Rosa? Thanks to all our listeners who tuned in during our very sporadic output during the year. We appreciate your continued loyalty, and look forward in 2020 to bringing you more entertaining episodes of yes, the greatest Doctor Who podcast in the goddamn universe!
