We mention a couple of works by Neil Gaiman’s, including The Graveyard Book a strangely funny, elegiac and occasionally terrifying children’s book, and The Sandman, a best-selling comic book series, which is about to be released on Netflix.

James is right: the word petrichor was coined in 1964 by Australian researched Dick Thomas, to describe a phenomenon that had previously been called argillaceous odour. So thanks for enriching the language, Dick.

Neil Gaiman wrote a Doctor Who mini-episode called Rain Gods starring Matt Smith and Alex Kingston. It was included on the Series 7 DVD and Blu-ray box set.

Waffle On about Hell Comes to Frogtown.

Well what a treat we have for you. This is possibly one of the cheapest films we have covered but its bloody good fun. Meds was introduced to this by Kell back in 1989 and it became a go to film when not going to college... (please dont take career advice from the boys). Anyway with typical tounge in cheek chat they go through the film and also chat about the coming soon Waffle On meet up in Birmingham UK (November 20th, Cherry Reds Brum 12pm to 6pm)

Way back in 2005, several Eighth Doctor adventures starring Paul McGann and India Fisher, which were produced by Big Finish, were broadcast on BBC Radio 7.

To promote these, original trailers were produced, and here, for the first time, Pieces of Eighth have compiled the promotional pieces for that second story, Sword of Orion.

We join the Eighth Doctor on his first audio adventure set during the Time War.

Andrew Smith, writer of The Sontaran Ordeal, and Dan Starkey, who played Commander Jask in the adventure, join Becca and Kenny to explain how their involvement with this Big Finish release, part of the first series of Classic Doctors, New Monsters, came about.

As no other podcasts are talking about it, Martyn, Sam and their friend Antoni felt duty-bound to tell the world that Russell T Davies is returning to Doctor Who. 

Davies was the showrunner for the first five years and oversaw the ninth and tenth iterations of the Doctor, played by  Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. During his tenure, he also launched two spin-offs ‘Torchwood’ and ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures.’

The podcast is available from all good podcast services, such as but not limited to Spotify, Amazon Music, Podchaser, Player FM, Stitcher, and Apple Podcasts.

In a surprise announcement, the BBC informs us that the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary special in 2023 (and the 14th modern series to follow) will be under the skilled and marketable command of one Russell T Davies. Yes, THAT Davies.
