We ran into some scheduling (and weather) difficulties for getting this episode recorded in our usual manner so we decided to try something new! We used some open source software solutions (more than we usually do for the production of the show) to run a Skype-like three-way video call. Skype didn’t allow Rob to join a video conference call from his GNU/Linux machine so we had to use Rob’s XMPP server and accounts for the Who’s On guys to log into Jitsi and create a three-way pier-to-pier video conference call. The call quality was quite competitive to Skype and it was completely painless across Windows and Ubuntu MATE. Refreshed and revitalized, The Oncoming Storm rings in the new year with a new episode that was absolutely, totally, and completely NOT recorded before they took their break. We swear. But regardless, Josh, Ashley, and Jeff are here and they're sharing their Doctor Who related resolutions with the world! Once that's done, your hosts turn their fresh eyes to Titan Comics The 12th Doctor #2. (We're still not sure how to label these things. After all, Titan *is* publishing 4 different series all with the title Doctor Who!) Does this conclusion to the opening 12th Doctor story live up the first part, and will it bring around Jeff to the rest of the team's love of the first issue? Join us as we talk Terrorformer part 2! The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got a sharknado! Or at least a turtle water spout thingee.

The First Doctor takes a visit to (what was then) present day London, to visit the new Post Office Tower only to find it home to a mad AI with delusions of world conquest. Though the machine isn't going it alone, it has a bevy of mind controlled servants to build robots to take over London. Of course the Doctor has his own allies, even if there is an unconventional switch in his companions.

In this first episode, Dan and Eric begin their journey through space and time -- or more specifically, through the Netflix streaming catalog of classic Doctor Who episodes -- with the story entitled "The Aztecs". This story features the original Doctor, his granddaughter Susan, and his companions Barbara and Ian. Along the way they  meet ancient British Mexicans, a scenery-chewing High Priest, and some well performed stage acting.

Fancy a return to Alzarius? We did, so we contacted classic Doctor Who and Big Finish writer Andrew Smith about “Mistfall,” his upcoming Big Finish audio play which sends the Fifth Doctor, Turlough, Nyssa and Tegan back to E-Space. Andrew also joins us to look at the news of the week, including stats, plush Tennants, and a possible controversy concerning Netflix! Toby Hadoke also makes a special appearance to reflect with Steven on the life and times of Bernard Kay, the accomplished actor who appeared in The Daleks, the Crusade, The Faceless Ones and Colony in Space, and who sadly passed away this week.
