In this weeks show, we look back at the 16 year gap in Doctor Who on television, commonly referred to as the Wildness Year. We discuss some of the media that kept Doctor Who on the hearts and minds of fans through the dark times leading up to the show’s return to the airwaves in 2005.

We also share a retrospective on the return of the series to television and discuss some of the influences on the show even today, A celebration of the 10 years the News Series has been going strong.

Yes, Phil, Paul and a returning Tony plough through episodes 1 & 2 of The Gunfighters, that well regarded William Hartnell classic from 1966. Well I say well regarded as the brave trio manfully struggle with phoney American accents and try to bring you facts from the day of the original broadcast. In fact, they talk about that more than the episodes themselves, that's how bad it is!!

And there is no news this week, as they just wanted to get cracking with the commentary for a change.

A show long feared dead returned, stronger and better than ever....but in order for that to happen, many talented people had to come together in front of the camera and behind the scenes for a show no-one yet believed in. Director Joe Ahearne was one such individual, directing five Eccleston-era stories and witness to the chaos of that first season. He spoke to us about those days, his experiences working with Eccleston and RTD, and more! We also have snippets from press conferences held at the time, to give you more of a flavor of the atmosphere as the clock counted down to the return of Doctor Who. Happy anniversary, everyone!
