Episode 214: Dreamland OR From the High Desert and the Great American Southwest
PodcasticaOur final episode of 2020! Thank you so much for joining us this year! It's been a rough ride, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. We hope you're having a great holiday and are staying safe. So join us now as we venture into Dreamland! A companion-less Doctor arrives in a remote part of Nevada in 1958 and quickly finds himself facing down the Men in Black, the US government, and a race of cockroach-esque aliens as he finds himself within the confines of the infamous Area 51! There he ends up helping a pair of classic gray aliens...who happen to be married, because sure...grays are down to marry. There aren’t any classic saucers, but there’s much to be found in Dreamland!

Fan Reactions That Surprised You
The Doctor Who ShowHow many times have you watched an episode of Doctor Who, then gone online and wondered if the rest of the world watched the same episode?
It might be a story you really loved and it feels like everyone else is panning it. Conversely it might be a story you thought was the worst thing you've ever seen in your life yet, when you go online afterwards, people are talking about it like it's the next Genesis of the Daleks.
It's weird, right? Frustrating? Yeah, we hear you. On tonight's episode, we have TONS of listener feedback on the topic, not only because it gives us a wide and varied group of examples but because we wanted you to be involved in our final episode of 2020 as a thank you to all your support this year. We do throw in some of our own thoughts too, of course!
Before then we talk about the past month in Doctor Who news – this time including the imminent arrival of Revolution of the Daleks and some last minute filming that's been added to it – in addition to some short topics.
Hope you enjoy the episode! Contact us anytime, hello@theDWshow.net

326: It Says Everything it Shouldn’t and Nothing it Should (Children of Earth: Day One)
Trust Your DoctorKind of sounds like me, on the podcast.
Have we ever had a five episode serial in Doctor Who? We have, right? I’m pretty sure we did but I genuinely don’t remember any more. A lot of classic who has been completely wiped from my mind because I needed the space in my brain for other things. I can’t remember what those things were anymore. It’s Children of Earth: Day One, written by Russell T. Davies and aired on July 6, 2009.

45:40: Apparently you’re considered an embryo until you’ve been in development for nine weeks. Then you become a fetus. The more you know.

Do Something Big
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis Christmas, everyone’s incredibly hungry, but we’re not allowed to start on dinner until the Doctor’s embarrassing relatives arrive. It’s the episode with the most oxymoronic title in the entire series — The End of Time, Part One.
Notes and links
Prisoner — or Prisoner: Cell Block H — was a classic Australian soap opera before such things even existed. In this clip, the Freak introduces herself to fan favourite Doreen Burns in a particularly memorable way.
V was an American mini-series from the mid-80s, in which rat-eating lizard people invaded America in a way that we can only describe as extremely prophetic. You can see the scene that Todd mentions here.
Nathan prepared for this episode by live-tweeting both parts of The End of Time, using the hashtag #FinalDaysOfPlanetEarth.

Nathan is on Twitter as @nathanbottomley, James is @ohjamessellwood, Todd @toddbeilby, and if you see Peter around anywhere, tell him how keen you are to follow him when he finally gets round to creating a Twitter account. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam, and the strings performance was by Jane Aubourg. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast.
We’re also on Facebook, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on iTunes, or we’ll buy you a copy of The Art of the Deal for Christmas.
