SHOWNOTES
(00:01:42) Rick Jones was a Canadian-born television presenter and folk musician, best known for his work in BBC children’s television programmes “Play School” (1964–1973) and “Fingerbobs” in 1972.
(00:01:42) “Fingerbobs” is a British children’s television programme made by Q3 for the BBC. Only thirteen episodes were ever made and were regularly repeated until December 1984. Presented by mime artist “Yoffy” (played by Canadian actor Rick Jones), each ten-minute episode told a story centred on a paper finger puppet animal and usually involved collecting various items (such as pebbles or feathers) to make up another object at the end. Each finger puppet had their own song.
(00:03:30) “Play School” is a British children’s television series produced by the BBC from 1964 to 1988 and aimed at pre-school children. Each programme followed a broad theme and consisted of songs, stories and activities with presenters in the studio, along with a short film introduced through either the square, round or arched window in the set.
(00:05:15) Cosmo Canyon is a location in role playing video game “Final Fantasy VII“.
(00:23:00) This clip is from an episode of “Eight Out of Ten Cats” and can be seen here.
(01:06:25) “The Arabian Knights” was an animated segment of “The Banana Splits Adventure Hour”.

Doctor Who - Pieces of EighthYOU'D never know it from our finished episodes, but Becca and Kenny are good friends who giggle a lot.
What you hear in the finished episodes isn't always exactly what gets recorded. Sometimes, just sometimes, they laugh at daft things, and you'd never know from the finished episode that anything every happened... Well, probably not...
Today, we present our first outtakes, from our episode about the TARDIS console... and the pair are laughing at silly innuendoes. Such children!

Lesbian Spank Inferno
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastIt’s the last episode of the first half of the season, and to celebrate, Nathan, James, Peter and Adam Richard have invited literally everyone they’ve ever met to join them at Demons’ Run for a bloodless victory swiftly followed by a painful death. Oh, and the baby shower has been cancelled. Which is just the sort of thing that happens when A Good Man Goes to War.
Notes and links
If you want to hear more about the challenges of directing a Moffat script, you should head over to Rachel Talalay’s Tumblr, which is a fascinating and very telling read.
Nathan mentions (again) The Writer’s Tale, which is the place to go to find out about how difficult RTD found the workload on Doctor Who during his first stint as showrunner of the programme. Pray for him.
Upsettingly, Lesbian Spank Inferno was the title of the fourth episode of Steven Moffat’s breakout sitcom Coupling, in which we learn that it was also the title of series lead Steven Taylor’s favourite pornographic video.
James and Adam both comment on a Big Finish sequel to Inferno called Primord, in which a recast Liz Shaw (Caroline John’s daughter Daisy Ashford) gets turned into a Primord or something. It’s in the name, people!
And finally, James mentions a post Moffat wrote on rec.arts.doctorwho, which no longer exists, but which you can find quoted in its entirety here.

Gav's book Doctor Who: Dalek Combat Training Manual can be found here (other retailers are available) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1785945327/
Also find his excellent YouTube series Terry Nation Army here: https://youtube.com/user/Dalek6388. And they've started a new podcast here: https://dalek6388.podbean.com/ which you should definitely listen to, once you've heard this.
And head over to https://www.bigfinish.com/, where we all love Paul's stories, especially for the Doctor Who and Jago and Litefoot ranges.
Richard's other podcast is called "If It's Hurting, It's not Working" and it's a fun and informative look at work - why we work, how we work, and what makes a great job. And also what makes a great workplace, how to turn things round when we're not enjoying our work and, in the end, how we can all make our work better. https://ifhurtnotwork.podbean.com/
The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 and, yes, that is Richard playing the ukulele and kazoo on possibly the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme tune at the end.

2.8 The War Master
Doctor Who - Pieces of EighthThe Eighth Doctor - one of the most joyous, vibrant incarnations of the Doctor, has come face to face with the most vicious of Masters on a couple of occasions.
We delve into the universe of the War Master, as Paul McGann faced off against Sir Derek Jacobi, in two Big Finish box sets, Rage of the Time Lords, and Hearts of Darkness.
We meet two of the writers, David Llewelyn and Lisa McMullan, to find out how these sets came together.
