TDP 1053: #DoctorWho NEM2. UNIT: Nemesis 2: Agents of the Vulpreen
Tin Dog PodcastThis title was released in March 2022. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 31 May 2022, and on general sale after this date. UNIT has stopped the Eleven’s efforts to retrieve the Arch. But questions remain. How did an artefact imbedded with advanced technology become buried under a prehistoric lava flow? Why does it form a connection with an alien world? And just who are the Vulpreen, the alien race that live there? Those questions are about to be answered... 2.1 The Man From Gallifrey by Andrew Smith As Osgood works flat out to rescue a lost friend, Kate is at a demonstration of a new UK spaceship, the Starseeker. There she meets two people. Lieutenant Jimmy Tan looks like potential UNIT material, and the stranger called Hasper knows a lot about UNIT and the Eleven. He should – he’s the Celestial Intervention Agency operative who sent the Eleven through the Arch millions of years ago. 2.2 Power of the Dominators by Kenneth Grant Portstone New Town is a living space for the future. A dream community, or so the advertising promises. But UNIT discovers the developers are alien Dominators. Which means there’s a more sinister purpose behind Portstone, and the Dominators’ deadly killer robots - the Quarks - can’t be far away. 2.3 The War Factory by Lizzie Hopley Temporal anomalies strike in the present and the past - 19th century infantry at Belmarsh Prison in the present day, and Brigadier Winifred Bambera is confronted by Tudor warships on the Thames in the late 20th century. Enquiries by UNIT past and present lead them to the site of Woolwich Arsenal, where the Eleven is trying to create a bridge to another world. And UNIT will learn he’s not the only one on the side of their alien adversaries. 2.4 Ten Minutes in Hell by John Dorney On the alien world on the far side of the Arch, the Vulpreen put their human prisoner through an ordeal. Osgood must lead a desperate rescue attempt - and she’s got ten minutes to do it.

WHO 37 - A Doctor Who PodcastIn the midst of moving cross country and starting new jobs, our fearless podcasters find the time to make their monthly boys-night-out over Skype and record a Classic Who commentary. Even though we recorded this on Patrick Troughton’s birthday, Chris wanted to watch a Jon Pertwee story, so we end up doing a drunken commentary on one of our favorites, “Carnival of Monsters”. We also pay tribute to the nicest human alive today.

Eight - Not Enough
Doctor Who: Verity! In this week's "Reference Acknowledged", Deb, Kat, and Lynne discuss the Eighth Doctor's impact on fandom, how and why he was brought into "canon", and the importance of naming Big Finish Companions during "The Night of the Doctor." Thanks to Christian Smith for this week's topic suggestion. We are ALWAYS happy to talk about the Eighth Doctor!
This week's "year of..." title credited to Trevor S!
As a reminder, many Big Finish titles are available on streaming service so if you're curious and want to check them out (and we suggest you do!), a quick search may grab you free Big Finish content. Warning: Big Finish is highly addictive and may result in you purchasing many many more titles but we don't see this as a bad thing!
How do you feel about Eight? Drop us a tweet or let us know in the comments!

#201 - The Kind of Stupid Choice an Alien Entity Would Make
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2Yeti menacing the London underground — one of the most iconic images of Doctor Who in the 1960s; and we discuss The Web of Fear in this podcast. Ben recalls how the Target cover by Chris Achilleos for The Abominable Snowmen with its yeti with a hint of fang helped confuse him when he first saw the mark 2 version. David fell in love with this story after hearing the narrated soundtrack and dreams about being a yeti cosplayer at Doctor Who conventions. We touch upon the missing episode 3 and how the fan animation made by Adam Bullock helped bridge the gap in 2013 and what to make of the new 3d motion-capture animation. Opening music is "Palpitations", composed by J. Scott and, closing music is "Music For Strings, Percussion, and Celesta, SZ 106 - 3. Adagio", composed by Béla Bartók and performed by RIAS Symphony Orchestra, directed by Ferenc Fricsay. We recorded this episode on 13 March 2022.

Who's He?In this edition of the Who's He? Podcast.....
Review - Bloodtide
This month Phil and Paul challenge the evolution of humankind by taking a look at Bloodtide from Big Finish. While the Silurians in this story shake up Charles Darwins theory of evolution, Phil gets despondent at the same tactics that we've seen employed before by our 3 eyed monsters, while Paul defends the audio version of the Myrka!
The News
Christopher Eccleston has demands if he is to return for Doctor Who's 60th Anniversary and we say goodbye to 3 people from Doctor Who.
Omega's Tittle Tattle Corner
Rumours abound for the 60th Anniversary with all the post 2005 Doctors supposedly returning and another rumour for a new Doctor Who LEGO game which gets Phil excited!

Episode 18 - The Loch Ness Monster (with Simon Hart)
Doctor Who LiteratureIt's January 1976, and season 2 of Doctor Who Literature begins with a look at Terrance Dicks' second novelization of a Tom Baker episode: Doctor Who and the Loch Ness Monster, a quick-to-print adaptation of the Season 13 series premiere, "Terror of the Zygons".
Jason is joined at the top of the hour by Simon Hart (@SiHart) as we discuss how Terrance's novelization differs in many key ways from the TV broadcast. What do Doctor Who monsters sound like when we're reading these books as kids, before having seen the TV story in question? Did Si remember to charge his laptop before the recording started? And can Jason stump Si in a game of "20 Questions"?
In the second half of the program, Jason takes his signature close look at Terrance Dicks' writing style. Is this book a mere transcript of the TV episodes, devoid of extra insights or observational humor? Far, far from it.
This hour features a musical snippet from Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.
