So it seems that Scooby, Shaggy, and the gang have found a mysterious shape embedded deep within a block of glacial ice. Velma's and Fred's insatiable curiosities are piqued, and simply have to know what...or who...is trapped within. Nothing to fear, though, of course. Whatever is in there, if it ever was a living thing, has to be long dead by now. Right? The plot may begin with a rather recognizable trope by modern standards, but with the Second Doctor adventure, 'The Ice Warriors', the premise was far more original and, dare we say, fresh. (We're not sorry. We never apologize for puns.) This week, GPR East and West (Keir and Haley) enjoy the four surviving episodes and two animated recreations of 'The Ice Warriors', and discuss the thematic statements about nuclear winter, modern dependence upon technology, and what hundreds or thousands of years trapped in a glacier apparently does to one's vocal chords. On this week’s podcast, Episode 291, we discussed some things we did this week. In this episode Steve is away on holiday so Pete and special guest Gavin Jones talk about Rapid Fire from 1992. This is a special episode and next month we'll return to part 2 of our Cusack trilogy.

The film stars Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, in an action movie two years before his final role in The Crow. This film is one of Pete's special weapons, a film he has been angling to get on the show for a while, but will it deliver for Gav?

We move sideway once again this week into another universe where our familiar Doctor is not present, but replaced with an old time traveling scientist called Dr. Who. To celebrate the 50th anniversary, we look at Daleks’ Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D. We give our impressions of the second outing of Peter Cushing as the lovable old doctor as he encounters some new friends and an old enemy.

Also, Glenn does a mini-review of the Traveling the Vortex Book Club book for June, Doctor Who: Royal Blood by Una McCormack, featuring the Twelfth Doctor and Clara as they first encounter The Glamour.
