Metebelis 2 #83 - The Sensual Sounds of Segun Akinola
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2Ben and David are excited to hear the music of Segun Akinola, the new composer for Doctor Who! Akinola will be scoring the incidental music for Series 11 and putting his mark on the show's theme song. So, this week the Metebelis Two listen to song excerpts from Akinola's SoundClound page and speculate what type of music he will bring. Opening with "Mount Nyiragongo" from the BBC documentary series "Expedition Volcano", the lads also listen to excerpts entitled "Dakika", and "Ororo". They also listen to music from "The Human Body", including "DNA", "Microglia", "Amorph", and "Codon". Then sample a couple of tracks from the BBC's "Black and British" including "David's Theme" and "Dalu". Finally they delve deeper into Akinola's back catalog with excerpts from "Following the Trail", "Abandoned", "Evil Knight", and "Nothing Left". This week's pod is a musical feast! Closing music is "Keshokutwa" also from Akinola's score for "Expedition Volcano".

If you hear persistent rumbling interference throughout this episode it's probably your ears. You should get them checked. Certainly nothing to do with the dwindling faculties of your podcasters. And I'm sure it won't happen again.
We are just so excited to be back.

The Ice Warriors 6
Lazy Doctor WhoOO (6)
SIX
Erika and Steven finish off Canada Day by finishing off “The Ice Warriors”. It had its ups and downs, but in the end they agree it’s a pretty good story.
Host Erika Ensign and Steven Schapansky
-
The Ice Warriors 4-5
Lazy Doctor WhoOO (4-5)
FOUR-FIVE
Steven and Erika keep trucking along though the ice. To her delight, Erika finds the voices are much much better when there are moving creatures to pair them with. Steven talks about Pink Floyd — and even manages to make it relevant.
Host Erika Ensign and Steven Schapansky
-
The Ice Warriors 2-3
Lazy Doctor WhoOO (2-3)
…ahem… TWO - THREE
Erika and Steven continue the Canada Day festivities with more Doctor Who. However, Erika isn’t feeling very festive, due to the vocal performances of some of the actors in this story. Why does it have to be a SIX-parter?
Host Erika Ensign and Steven Schapansky
-
The Ice Warriors 1
Lazy Doctor WhoOO (1)
…or should we say “THE ICE WARRIORS ONE” to match the opening credits?
We should definitely say Happy Canada Day! As per tradition, Steven and Erika spend part of their national holiday watching this show (created by a Canadian!) and podcasting about it.
There’s an awful lot to say about this episode! From incidental music to Victoria headcanon to a surprising amount of talk about Mark Gatiss’ stories, but there’s still time to squeeze in the official Canada Day-Doctor Who theme song!
Host Erika Ensign and Steven Schapansky
