The Doctor Who ShowThis month we're riffing on a challenge our listener @alicianeptune set for her YouTube viewers on the channel youtube.com/c/LatinAlice where she asked them to think about placing favourite book, film, or TV characters into other properties. In turn, she was riffing on older episodes of ours, placing Nu-Who Doctors in Classic episodes and Classic Doctors in Nu-Who episodes. This is a very meta topic this month!
Before then, of course, there’s some news from the past month in Doctor Who, and some mini-topics to discuss. You know the drill for our monthly episode by now, dear listener.
Hope you enjoy the episode. Contact us anytime, hello@theDWshow.net

It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until May 31st 2020, and on general sale after this date. Donna Noble has come home. But she’s about to be whisked away by aliens – and they’re not as friendly as the Doctor! After the trauma of the Library, Donna wants a break, to see old friends and family, to remind herself of normality. Only Donna’s new normal involves trips through time and space and visiting alien worlds. So when she and BFF Nat start looking into strange abductions, they are dragged into a whole new universe of trouble... 1. Out of this World by Jacqueline Rayner Donna’s home, but she’s not quite herself. Sylvia has some ideas to bring her out of herself – involving an old friend, and speed-dating... As schoolgirl BFFs Donna and Natalie get reacquainted, a mysterious stranger dogs their steps. Is the Doctor keeping tabs on her, or is the truth far more sinister? 2. Spinvasion by John Dorney Donna and Nat have been stolen – along with the TARDIS - and they find themselves crash-landing on an alien world. On the planet Valdacki a very successful invasion is already underway. And it’s one that has the very best PR. 3. The Sorcerer of Albion by James Goss Trying to get home, Donna and Nat end up in the right place at the wrong time – the Middle Ages! A monastery is under siege from the Burning Knights, and the great Sorcerer Parval calls on the assistance of another great mage. He has summoned Merlin herself – or as Nat knows her, Donna Noble! 4. The Chiswick Cuckoos by Matt Fitton Donna’s home, but she’s not quite herself. Sylvia couldn’t be more pleased to see her daughter finally getting on with her life. But an alien plot is nearing completion, and the world needs saving. The Doctor is nowhere to be found, so it’s all up to Donna – and Nat!

347: I Regret Nothing and I Don’t Take it Back (Village of the Angels)
Trust Your DoctorWell, I suppose it was worth a shot trying to get him to take it back. (Editor’s note: No.)
We somehow went this entire episode without making a “Children of the Stones” joke. Can you believe that? I can’t believe that. We made a dozen of those jokes while we were watching the episode, so the fact that we didn’t make a single one in the episode is a little shocking. It’s Village of the Angels, written by Chris Chibnall and Maxine Alderton and aired on November 21, 2021.
Show-notes:
3:05: I couldn’t find out exactly when they finished Flux specifically, but I read that Jodie and Mandip wrapped the final special in October. Here’s a handy dandy timeline of the entire season’s + specials production schedule.
4:33: Here’s the article explaining why Doctor Who is apparently banned in China. Apparently the ban has something to do with treating history seriously, which I guess the Chinese government says that shows like Doctor Who don’t. Weird but hey. The article also reminded me that Winnie the Pooh is also censored in China. Lmao.
6:40: Here’s the “bloody good story” and “absolutely brilliant” tweets for ya.
11:40: Devon is a county in the south west of the UK.
16:19: Kiyan and I are referencing Geraint Cooper, from Torchwood.
18:06: Here’s a clip in case you forgot what an Ood vomiting out its brain looked like.
18:48: COME QUIETLY OR THERE WILL BE TROUBLE.
24:17: Kiyan probably could not find the phrase “There is no planet called Time” in the Halloween Apocalypse transcript, because the phrase was actually said in War of the Sontarans.
31:42: From Chakoteya: “JERICHO: Oh, I’ve seen many things beyond my comprehension, Doctor. I was one of the first British soldiers into Belsen at the end of the war. If you think a few stone statues will destroy my equilibrium you are mistaken. What do you need me to do?” Bergen-Belsen (or just Belsen) was a concentration camp.
32:20: I will never find this tweet but I don’t even care to defend this tweet.
33:15: Sorry for linking to Daily Mail, but they had the best picture of Jodie Whittaker looking miserable at the beach.
35:55: Here’s the tweet from the official BBC account of the angels and their scar, for all you fanatics to compare to.
48:47: Don’t worry, Know Your Meme comes through once again.
48:51: And here’s the link to the monkey puppet meme. I made this reference on our latest episode of Inevitable: A Classic Sci Fi Podcast, where we talked about the Firefly episode, Trash.
50:45: Check out our classic sci-fi podcast, Inevitable: A Classic Sci-Fi Podcast.
53:18: We covered assignment 3 of Sapphire and Steel like a year ago.
54:35: From Out of the Rain. Yeah, I’m linking Wikipedia for this and not tardis.fandom.com What are you gonna do about it?
59:29: We regretfully covered The Predator on our soon-to-be-defunct movie trilogy podcast, Triple Play: A Movie Trilogy Podcast.
1:01:07: Be sure to listen to listen to our episode on movie trilogies over on Triple Play: A Predator Podcast. This has to be the most useless show-note I’ve ever written.
1:29:55: We also have an episode on Pirates of the Caribbean over on Triple Play.
1:35:25: Check out Flight Through Entirety.

Doctor Who Time and Space (360)
Doctor Who Time and Space
For the second time, Lewis Moon and Dr Cool (Or Dr Vibes as he is going by this week) are joined over voice call rather than in person due to everything going on in the world. There's more games of describe a Doctor Who story in five words, a review of the End of Time Part 1, and some music from our very own Dr Vibes. (Next Week-End of Time Part 2, another game if we can come up with one, and probably even more distortion than this week).

Something Really Different on Screen
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, Nathan and Peter find themselves trapped in the corridors of a grimy English hotel with Si Hart and Conrad Westmaas, where the rooms are full of biting into a woollen jumper, turning up to your maths exam totally naked, and the fact that one day, you, your loved ones and everyone who has ever heard of you will be completely and irrevocably dead. The janitor seems pretty fit though. It’s The God Complex.
Notes and links
It goes without saying that the ur-text for the scary hotel that’s the repository of the previous residents’ secret fears is Kubrick’s The Shining (1980). The AV Club review of this episode identifies it as an influence straightaway.
During the Hinchcliffe Era, nearly every story featured the Doctor and Sarah being menaced by an evil from the dawn of time who had not been sufficiently executed enough. We discuss the issue in our The Hand of Fear episode, Not Sufficiently Executed Enough.

DWBRcast 216 - Áudio Drama: Sympathy for the Devil!
DWBRcastA história do 3º Doutor a gente sabe bem.

Perception Filter - A Doctor Who Short Story
Doctor Who : The Sirens of AudioThis was originally released as part of The Sirens of Audio podcast episode 41. It is now available as a separate bonus release.
Doctor Who - Perception Filter by Dwayne Bunney
Two siblings mourn the loss of their mother. But not because she was a good person. No one else sees her in the same way as they do. Until a little man in a book store coffee shop gives them the chance to discover the answer the question that can no longer be answered.
Who really was the monster that became their mother?
This is an unofficial story set in the Doctor Who universe and made for fun. It is not, nor will ever be monetized.

Episode 183: The Space Museum OR The Sort of Silence You Can Almost Hear
PodcasticaThis was undoubtedly the story in which Barbara encapsulated all of Doctor Who for all time: "All the Doors and Corridors are Exactly Alike." Indeed they do! But this week John & Taylor took a tour of THE SPACE MUSEUM! They were impressed by its high concept and how the story kept you guessing well into Act 4 if our TARDIS crew were changing history or stuck being part of it. Join us as we grab a pamphlet from the front desk and make our way through The Space Museum!!

Episode 52: Fresh Starts? - Part 2
Something WhoWe're back with the second half of our Anniversary special, comparing the first Doctor Who Story of all with the TV Movie. Both of which go by a variety of titles. This half focuses on the TV Movie / Doctor Who (1997) / The McGann one with the Pertwee logo / The Enemy Within.
Please like or share our podcast with people who will enjoy it, so we can build our listener base high for happiness. You can rate us directly on Apple Podcasts or Podchaser.com
Giles' book A History of the Universe in 21 Stars: (and 3 Imposters) can be found in all good bookshops and also here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/History-Universe-21-Stars-Imposters/dp/1787394654/
Gav's book Doctor Who: Dalek Combat Training Manual can be found here (other retailers are available) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1785945327/
Also find his excellent YouTube series Terry Nation Army here: https://youtube.com/user/Dalek6388. And they've started a new podcast here: https://dalek6388.podbean.com/ which you should definitely listen to, once you've heard this.
And head over to https://www.bigfinish.com/, where we all love Paul's stories, especially for the Doctor Who and Jago and Litefoot ranges.
Richard's other podcast is called "If It's Hurting, It's not Working" and it's a fun and informative look at work - why we work, how we work, and what makes a great job. And also what makes a great workplace, how to turn things round when we're not enjoying our work and, in the end, how we can all make our work better. https://ifhurtnotwork.podbean.com/
The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 and, yes, that is Richard playing the ukulele and kazoo on possibly the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme tune at the end.

The Doctor Who ShowThis month we're riffing on a challenge our listener @alicianeptune set for her YouTube viewers on the channel youtube.com/c/LatinAlice where she asked them to think about placing Doctor Who characters into other properties.
