Living in the Shadows
The Doctor Who ShowDoctor Who has such a rich and varied history that, at different times in its development, quite accomplished people in front of and behind the cameras have been overshadowed by other talented people through no real fault of their own.
In this episode, Rob and Dave seek to redress the balance to some degree by naming their cast and crew members who were 'living in the shadows' of others during their time on the show. Examples come from 60s, 70s, 80s, and Nu-Who.
Of course, the episode also features news and mini-topics, including some remarks on the passing of Paul Darrow, who was very dear to Dave and greatly respected by Rob, too.
Hope you enjoy the episode! Contact us anytime, hello@theDWshow.net

257: The Nice Ogron (Flatline)
Trust Your DoctorHave you ever met a kind hearted Ogron?
I’m imagining this as a sort of kids story in the Doctor Who universe for Time Lord children. They sit down because the Ogrons are some sort of myth, and then there’s a very nice Ogron who breaks away from society to be better than everyone else. I’m tearing up just at the thought of it. It’s Flatline, written by Jamie Mathieson and aired on October 18, 2014.

David Hooie & The Greatest American Hero
Who and CompanyBelieve it or not, we're walking on air this month with a voice Doctor Who podcast listeners haven't heard in a while. This month's guest is former Hoo on Who host, David Hooie! David stopped by to discuss what he's been up to since leaving the airwaves and of course his love of Doctor Who.
Then we go back to the early 80s and revisit that superhero comedy/drama, The Greatest American Hero, as David chooses it as his Pick of the Month. We talk about three of his favorite episodes and whether or not it's held its weight since it was cancelled.

TDP 872: Paternoster Heratage One from @BigFinish
Tin Dog PodcastThis title was released in June 2019. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until August 31st 2019, and on general sale after this date. Victorian London harbours many secrets: alien visitors, strange phenomena and unearthly powers. But a trio of investigators stands ready to delve into such mysteries – the Great Detective, Madame Vastra, her resourceful spouse, Jenny Flint, and their loyal valet, Strax. If an impossible puzzle needs solving, or a grave injustice needs righting, help can be found on Paternoster Row. But even heroes can never escape their past… 1.1 The Cars That Ate London! by Jonathan Morris The advent of electric carriages on London’s streets causes a stir – until they start careening out of control. Elsewhere, factory workers lose their senses, while a brand-new power plant suffers mysterious outages. Genius industrialist Fabian Solak has a vision of the future – free from pollution, running on clean electricity. But Madame Vastra knows such ideas are ahead of their time… 1.2 A Photograph to Remember by Roy Gill The Paternoster Gang are shocked to discover a rival group on the streets. A Sontaran, a Silurian and a human – only their intentions are not quite so noble as Madame Vastra and friends. And when the recently-photographed dead begin to return home, strangely altered, will this ‘Bloomsbury Bunch’ be more of a help or a hindrance? 1.3 The Ghosts of Greenwich by Paul Morris Strange things are happening to the people of Greenwich. Phantoms of the living appear, while others are aged beyond their years. A cloaked figure stalks the streets, and time is out of joint. Vastra, Jenny and Strax find all clues point towards the Meridian Line. Beneath the Royal Observatory lies a secret – something terribly ancient and horribly dangerous…

#119 - Vacuum Packed Fungus
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2With Doctor Who in seemingly perpetual hiatus at the BBC, how were fans supposed to get their next fix? Well, the Virgin New Adventures, of course! Ben and David leap back in time to the fag end of Thatcher's Britain and talk about Love and War, Paul Cornell's 1992 novel featuring Ace and introducing Bernice Summerfield. What captured Ben's fancy so long ago that he bought the book? And, why did David never read a NA novel until this past week? Travellers, fungus, hair, and more in this podcast episode. Opening music is from the end of Surivial, "...and Somewhere Else, The Tea's Getting Cold," composted by Dominic Glynn. Closing music is "One Man Rock And Roll Band," writtne and sung by Roy Harper, recorded at the BBC in the late 1970s and which he played at the last Stonehenge Free Festival in 1984.

Sarah Jane Adventures – Ep235: It’s Creepy Sarah Jane
The Doctor Who Big Blue Box PodcastHey Who fans. We're back! In this week's show...
The News
Some news to catch up on plus new stuff. We start with the sad news of the passing of Paul Darrow, the next classic animated movie will be "The Faceless Ones" and in the US, "The End of Time" gets a cinema outing for its 10th anniversary year.
Merch Corner
New Character Options figure sets are coming to B&M stores this summer, the next classic Who limited edition blu ray box set will be Season 23, a new book is on the way titled "Star Tales" later this year to coincide with Series 12 and another Big Finish vinyl is out soon - "Wave of Destruction" which will be a Sainsbury's exclusive.
"SJA - Prisoner of the Judoon" Review
We're always up for reviewing SJA as you know and this week we eagerly kick off Series 3 with this creepy story of Judoon vs Attic crew vs Androvax the Anhiliator. Does this continue the decent scores we've dished out for SJA or is this the downturn we hope wouldn't come?
Next week our review will be the 4th Doctor story - The Leisure Hive. Until then have a super week and remember - Allons-y!

The Pilot, The Juggernauts and cosplay
The Doctor Who PodcastWelcome to Episode 295 of The Doctor Who Podcast!
Join the team as they geekout over the latest Who News, talk about how to deal with being self-conscious when dressed as The War Doctor in a coffee shop, talk Daleks versus Mechanoids in a review of Big Finish‘s The Juggernauts and re-visit Bill Pott’s introduction in a retrospective of Season 10’s The Pilot – the opening episode of Peter Capaldi’s final series as The Doctor
Several of our wonderful listeners have spotted that our Series 2 episodes are little longer (in the case of #294, a *lot* longer!) than they were back in the olden days. The move to a monthly release schedule has allowed us to record more segments and produce longer episodes.
Not every episode of the DWP will use the multi-segment/multi-host format of #293 to #295 – we will mix it up a little occasionally to keep you (and us) on our collective toes! However, including the “contents” of each Episode in the show notes will allow you to locate/skip to or over a specific segment if you choose. We are looking at introducing chapter markers in future episodes, but in the meantime here is a list of segments in this episode:
00:00 to 16:35 Introduction and news (James, Phil and Ian)
16:35 to 32:05 Big Finish – The Juggernauts review (Drew and Michele)
32:10 to 58:17 Cosplay – what, why, how and dos it cost loads? (Phil, Stephen and Drew)
58:17 to 01:14:37 Featured Episode review – The Pilot (Season 10) (James, Phil and Ian)
1:15:12 Outro (James, Phil and Ian)
1:18:48 VAM!!If you would like to join in the conversation or have suggestions of your own to make, then please get in touch with the team by sending us an email – feedback@thedoctorwhopodcast.com – tweeting us @thedrwhopodcast or find us on Facebook.
Enjoy the show!
