Episode 166: Strangulation by Dead Grandmother
Trust Your DoctorYou shouldn’t be surprised, just because she’s dead doesn’t mean she can’t kill you.
This week it turns out the world actually wasn’t blown up last week. So we had to drag ourselves to the off…garage to record a new episode of Trust Your Doctor. This week it’s The Unquiet Dead, written by Mark Gatiss and aired on April 9, 2005.
Show-notes:
10:26 Christmas Carol can be read here.
18:54 Or if you like longer Dickens stories you can read Martin Chuzzlewit.
26:45 I strongly suggest you don’t read The Fantastic Imagination by George MacDonald.
35:22 Or if you like unfinished Dickens stories, you can read The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

With an anonymous mastermind pulling the strings and an evil computer to keep everyone in line, about the only thing anyone on the train could do is find out what the mummy running around really is, before it kills everyone on board.

Galaxy 4
Doctor Who: Whos On TargetGalaxy 4 by William Emms is where David and Greg are faced with the beautiful but cold and deadly Drahvins, the incredibly ugly but rather nicely spoken Rills, and are nearly knocked right over by their robotic servants the chumblies. What on Earth will we make of this lost (aside from one recently-discovered episode) oddity from Hartnell-era Who? And of course, we have the very first narration of a Target audio from the original Vicky herself - Maureen O'Brien.

GeeklecticJumpin' Jacobites! (wait, did we already use that one for "The Eaters Of Light"? Dunno. Anyway.) It's the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden, and the Second Doctor has taken the opportunity to steal some hats. Also, we meet Jamie McCrimmon for the first time. He does some stuff. Also: lots of news, Kids Talk Who talks Sarah Jane and Daleks, and we dug up a long lost pop classic recorded by an actual Doctor Who companion. The Oncoming Storm Ep 206: The Stone Rose & Wave of Destruction
The Oncoming StormHey now, has it been a month already? Don't worry, we haven't given up on the show just yet! Josh, Ashley, Rachel, and Jeff are all back for episode 206 of The Oncoming Storm, and they have stories of cons, games, and wildfires from the month they were out. Once they catch up a month's worth of news, the team turns to the final audio picks of Jeff and Ashley. First up, Jeff picks a sentimental favorite, The Stone Rose by Jacqueline Rayner, as read by David Tennant. An audiobook featuring the 10th Doctor and Rose will surely bring the team together, right? After they recover from that, it's time for Ashley's random hat pick of Wave of Destruction by Justin Richards. Set in the infamous season 17 and featuring the 4th Doctor, Romana, and K-9, will Big Finish be able to capture some of that Douglas Adams magic? The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got Vardans and talking monkey things! Yeah well, they can't all be winners in the evil monster category.

This is the last Capaldi story pre-series 10 for us to review. It's funny and emotional but is this often viewed "middle of the road" story enough for us to move up from that 5 score?
Thank you Who fans for listening and your thoughts. Next week it's the 4th Doctor's turn with The Horns of Nimon so get that watched. Until then have a brill week and remember - Allons-y!

Does This Smell Spoiled to You?
Gallifrey Public Radio - A Doctor Who PodcastWe’ve probably all fallen victim to it. Many of us have either inadvertently or (shamefully) explicitly done it ourselves. The issue of ‘spoilers’ are nothing new to storytelling, from publications and stagecraft, to radio broadcast, to screens large and small.
