Tim's Take On: Episode 243(Doctor Who: Robot of Sherwood review)
Tim's Take On...A lighter episode this week from the pen of Mark Gatiss as the Doctor encounters Robin Hood, the Sheriff of Nottingham and robot knights. I forgot to mention in the review the brief cameo of Patrick Troughton via a photo of him playing Robin Hood himself.

The episode stars Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, with Tom Riley[4] and Ben Millerguest-starring.[5][6][7] The BBC released a 30 second trailer for the episode on 1 September 2014.[8] Contents [hide] 1 Production 1.1 Writing 1.2 Filming 2 Episode leak 3 Reception 4 References 5 External links Production[edit] Writing[edit] In an interview with Doctor Who Magazine, writer Mark Gatiss stated that his intent with the episode was "to do the Doctor and Robin Hoodin 45 minutes". He went on to state: "The premise is inherently funny, but I didn’t think of it as the funnier episode when I was doing it. It’s still asking big questions. But it’s definitely more frivolous.”[9] Filming[edit] Filming for the episode took place in Fforest Fawr on 15 April 2014,[10][11] and later atCaerphilly Castle on 17 April.[12] On 4 September 2014, the BBC announced that a beheading scene from the episode's climatic battle had been edited out due to the recent murders of James Foley and Steven Sotloff by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.[13][14][15][16][17][18] Episode leak[edit] The script for the episode was one of five scripts leaked online from a BBC Worldwide server in Miami, where they had been sent in preparation for broadcast in Latin America.[19] On 18 August 2014, a rough version of the episode was leaked online. The leaked version was black-and-white and did not contain any visual effects or music. This followed the leaks of the previous two episodes, "Deep Breath" and "Into the Dalek". The BBC released a statement urging fans not to spread spoilers from the pirated copy.[20] Reception[edit] The critical reception of the episode was largely positive. Simon Brew of Den of Geekcommended the lightness of the episode, in contrast to Capaldi's opening two episodes. He writes that "Robot of Sherwood" is "the kind of Doctor Who you reach for when you've got a spare hour, and just want to get a great big smile on your face".[21]

092 - Honey, I Shrunk the Doctor
Arrow of TimeHave you ever wondered what a Dalek is really made of? I mean besides hate and Nikelodeon Gak. Well the Doctor attempts to answer that question by going “Into the Dalek,” having a full and complete break down in the process. In the absence of Joseph and Gabe we are joined by the always entertaining team of Santiago and Sarah. So fire up those amazing shrinking machines and get your copy books ready as Moffat takes us someplace we’ve never been before, or ever really wanted to go in the first place.
Dave's choice for our I Don’t Know What To Call This Book Segment segment is Kurt Vonnegut's Slapstick, or Lonesome No More, which has exactly as many titles as it sounds!
The WhoTube this week is once again from Doctor Who Episology sensation K9HumpsMyLeg with “Doctor Who – Into The Dalek – Monster” – http://youtu.be/q3qiGUVJWxw

15. Maggie Smith on a Zipline
On the Time LashAfter the stresses of the Edinburgh Festival, it's time for Ben and Mark to relax with some Cyber-jokery as they discuss The Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel and Silver Nemesis. Has there been a good Cyberman story since 1968? Why isn't Rise of the Cybermen just set on Mondas? What did young Mark put on his Christmas list? And why is Silver Nemesis almost entirely responsible for where we all are today?

The Ood Cast S06E03 - A Bout de Souffle
The Ood Cast“This is a Doctor who doesn’t really care if people like him.”
In which promises are broken, monster encounters are simulated and the Doctor orders a pepperoni pizza.
Reviews: Deep Breath
Air Date: 23rd August 2014
Song: “Brand New Face” based on “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj
Additional notes: Sigma wasn’t actually in Texas during his segments. He was in Chicago. This is why he mentions eating “Chicago Mix” popcorn and not a massive slab of barbecue beef brisket. Cheese and caramel really do go together incredibly well.

CapaldiCast 1.1 Deep Breath
The Krynoid Podcast"And don't look in that mirror. It's absolutely furious!"
Peter Capaldi is the Doctor and Jim and Martin escape their Classic Who bonds to observe him in his inaugural outing, Deep Breath.
It's a Victorian melodrama, featuring a newly-coatless tramp, two attack eyebrows, some amazingly tolerant Londoners and the only restaurant with a negative Michelin star count.
Is age just a number? Does offing a clockwork robot count as homocide? And is Murray Gold really playing a kazoo?
Find out here. Maybe.

The Oncoming Storm Ep 120: DWM 8th Doctor 'Endgame' - Toying Around in 1996
The Oncoming StormIn the halcyon days before Dragon*Con happened and wiped out your Oncoming Storm hosts, Josh, Ashley, and Jeff endeavored to record episode 120 of The Oncoming Storm. This week's topic wasn't just any old comic though. It cuts right to the quick of two of your hosts youth in fandom. This week sees a review of the first ever 8th Doctor comic from Doctor Who Magazine, Endgame by Scott Gray and Alan Barnes. It's well before the BBC Books range starts, so it's one of the first times we see the 8th Doctor since his appearance in that ill fated TV movie. Will this comic recapture the McGann magic? Or will we have to suffer through generic Doctor time? Oh, and the Celestial Toymaker shows up too. The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got were... foxes? Are those foxes? Werewolves don't make sense, it must be foxes... Right?

PODCAST 019 - Deep into the Dalek
Diddly Dum PodcastWith Deep Breath and Into the Dalek, the Three Who Drool finally get around to reviewing new TV episodes of Doctor Who. We initially travel to Mancini’s Family Restaurant for the first story, armed with umbrellas against the missing roof and a tube of Pringles in the absence of even a children’s menu. Later, inspired partly by the Doctor and Clara diving into the Dalek but mostly by The Numskulls comic strip, Al and The Rev shrink themselves down to fit inside Doc’s bonded polycardboard box.
In the course of our discussion, we blow wide open Steven Moffat’s secret plan to use the first Doctor of the new regeneration cycle to reboot the series back to the era of the First Doctor. But not the First Doctor you may be thinking of.
We also look at the significance of the female thorax in Sontaran lore. The Rev tells us about a friend of his who once had a date with a gibbon. Al explores a possible narrative link between the Meddling Monk and the Mondasian Cybermen. Doc advocates punches in retaliation for slaps.

The Numskulls is a comic strip that started in The Beezer, before jumping to The Beano and finally landing in The (digital) Dandy where it’s still going strong today.

Dramaturgy is a sociological perspective starting from symbolic interactionism and commonly used in microsociological accounts of social interaction in everyday life. At least, that’s what Al thinks. And here’s one on the Reality-Tunnel: How Beliefs And Expectations Create What You Experience In Life. Doc needed a lie-down after reading them.

Episode 243: Into the Dalek
Wanderers in the 4th Dimension: A Journey Through Doctor WhoThis week we cover Doctor Who story #243, 2014's "Into the Dalek", in which the Doctor and Clara find themselves miniaturized and sent inside of a living Dalek's casing to learn what makes it tick. Can it be that it's truly a good Dalek?
QotW: On rare occasions, Doctor Who crosses over with other properties, officially, for example when it crossed over with EastEnders in Dimensions in Time and when it crossed over with Star Trek in Assimilation^2, or unofficially, such as the YouTube Doctor Who/Sherlock mash-up. What other property would you like to see Doctor Who cross over with?
