So it is no real surprise that insert authors name was able to provide such a adjective missing piece of drama. Of curse it is the cast who really bring this story to life, insert name of primary actor and insert name of secondary actor. Provide performances on levels never seen in their time on the television show. Special mention must be made about insert secondary actor who is taking their character to a whole new level, visiting ideas that Insert television producer slash how runners name only hinted at. Yes, this story has flashes of insert obvious parallel and hints of insert less obvious parallel to make the podcaster seem intelligent. But it must also be mentioned that there are arguable links to insert spurious parallel that will get people arguing on forums. All in all it is a wonderful slash predictable slash dyer story and I whole heartedly do slash do not recommend it. As with all reviews it comes down to one thing. We at Markwho42 have a new mantra! Keep It Simple! In the spirit of that, we're going to make this show description simple: This episode has an interview with Phil Nice and a guest appearance by Patrick Hawkins. See, very simple. We could go into detail and say that Phil played the astronaut Henry in the season 8 episode Kill the Moon. We could go to great lengths to mention that discussion during the news segment about the merits of a female Doctor and what that has to do with the newly announced all female Ghostbusters lineup. We talk on and on about the news story Trish talks about where you can get a collection of War Doctor stories for donating to charity. But we won't do that. That would not be simple. Intro: Kitty Horrorshow, News: Let's Talk About The Weather and How My Eyelash Tried to Kill Me Today, I Finally Upgraded to Yosemite, TV, Movies, Books etc.: This week I chat with indie game developer Kitty Horrorshow and we share our horror favourites.

We've dipped our toes into the works of David A. McIntee previously with White Darkness and The Dark Path, and we've returned to the pool with The Shadow of Weng-Chiang which, as one would guess, is a sequel to the televized story "The Talons of Weng-Chiang".  From the back cover:

'They say that a journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step.  If I'm right, then a journey of a thousand miles will take but a single step.'

The search for the fourth segment of the Key to Time brings the TARDIS to 1930s Shanghai: a dark and shadowy world, riven by conflict and threatened by the expansion of the Japanese Empire.  Meanwhile, the savage Tongs pursue their own mysterious agenda in the city's illegal clubs and opium dens.

Manipulated by an elusive foe, the Doctor is obliged to follow the Dragon Path - the side-effect of a disastrous experiment in the far future.

But would two segments of the Key be on the same planet?  Is the Black Guardian behind the dark schemes of the beautiful Hsien-Ko?  And who is the small child who always accompanies her?

As the bck cover suggests, this story is sandwiched between "The Stones of Blood" and "The Androids of Tara" and, to our knowledge, is the only book in the four series that we cover featuring Romana I.  The facts that it's a sequel to a popular story and that it takes place during the Key to Time quest make this an intriguing entry in our little library.  So sit back, pour yourself some tea, and listen in as we discuss The Shadow of Weng-Chiang.
