Indie Asylum - Episode 3 'Difficulty'
Episode Duration: 58 minutes and 41 secondsOnce again it’s time to tread the halls of Indie Asylum as we have a damn hard time wrapping our collective craniums around the subject of difficulty. With head scratching and brain punching we break out some games covering all varying levels of difficulty, with some chilled and casual that even Chelle can play to some so hard I wanted to kill puppies with my fists.
All that and enough indie love to make the fat cats of Wall Street break free and live like work shy, over emotional, over opinionated hippies. Which funnily enough describes Silent Hitoshura who was kind enough to suggest this theme to us. So before I cut loose and go live in a cage, here’s some awesome games:
1. Cloud – Free + flOw – Free / PSN + Flower – PSN + Journey – In development
2. Canabalt – Free + Robot Unicorn Attack – Free
3. Super Meat Boy – Xbox Live Arcade - 800 Points (Rising to 1200 from November) / Steam (Coming Soon)

Dissecting Worlds Series 3 Episode - 2 Tremeraire, His Majesty's Dragon & Air Forces
Episode Duration: 53 minutes and 53 secondsThis time Master Kehaar and First Mate Grampus set sail for the Napoleonic Wars: the Napoleonic War with Dragons.
In the process they admire the writing, society and military technology of the Tremeraire books. While at it they keel hawl the reputation of Napoleon, amputate Marshall Bulcher and pull out the guns on the nature of the HMS Allegiance.
Hammers Slammers make a surprise appearance and Kehaar gets all gushy eyed on the heroism of the period, Sharpe and Hornblower mainly stay in reserve but their presence is felt. They also admire the other developments of the time (though manage not to mention the Romantic movement - silly boys.) Jane Austin, Tom Mix and Tom Crabbe even get a mention.
So take a tot of rum, sound general quarters, scramble, stand to your guns, mount up or form square depending on your service me lads & lasses -
Do you want to see Napoleon in Windsor Castle? NO!
Do you want to see a Guillotine in Piccadilly? NO!
Do you want to see your children grow up speaking French* NO!
Then listen to this exciting epsiode of Dissecting Worlds

GS Network Presents: Scrolls Chapter 9: Book At Bogtime
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 34 minutes and 56 secondsfter a couple of relatively in-depth episodes the gang settle back into their old routine, loosen their belts and have a good old natter about the best books to read on the holiest of holes. Basic practicalities such as portability, absorbency (i.e. attention spans) and the cloth-touching of family trouser-turtles are all mulled over and given the serious consideration they deserve.
Meanwhile welcome distractions are provided by a hacking cough, the cheapskate Ambassador of Ferrero Rocher and Blue Peter ladies - both totty and notty.
Books and authors discussed include The Green Mile, The Yellow Wallpaper, Robert Bloch, Blood Sword, Leather Goddesses Of Phobos, Charles Dickens, The Lottery, The Running Man, HP Lovecraft and Legends. Strangely no mention is made of Wee Jock Poo-Pong McPlop, for which I apologise.
We do however mention a website from which you can get access to a whole bunch of free stories online – here’s the link http://freesf.blogspot.com/
Send your entries for the banner and logo competition flooding in to scrolls@hotmail.co.uk and for the sake of economy you can use the same e-mail address to contact us about joining in with the Scrolls Book Group podcast – open to all.
I’m on Twitter now @Dion_Scrolls so I’d love to get any feedback there, on the forums at http://www.gsforums.co.uk via e-mail or on the comments section below. So much choice!
Music is as ever by Steadman - except for the jazzy bit at the start which came off of some crappy cd I got free with a cocktail shaker a few years back.
I should probably add that we are giggly and explicit from the beginning, but not so distasteful as to be graphic. Well, not that graphic. Wuss. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be a bum-py ride.

Everthing Comes Back To 2000AD - Episode 36
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 21 minutes and 8 secondsWith Flint unavailable, Rich pulls in Iz to see how someone who actually jumped on at prog 1700 is coping with the current storylines. They go through progs 1703-1706 and of course take time to take the piss out of the absent Irishman. This one was recorded slightly differently to normal, so apologies for the sound quality.
As usual, expect spoilers throughout and language not suitable for the kiddies.

Scrolls Book Group - Episode 1
Episode Duration: 59 minutes and 30 secondsSometimes a book comes along that you really want to explore and talk to other people about. It's not enough to just read it and recommend it, you want to rave about it or throw your ideas around because its blown your mind - but you don't always have people around you can do this with.
Well now you do, because we're inviting you to join us in a fully interactive podcast. Crazy talk? Oh no, my friend. We're looking to put you centre-stage with the Scrolls team to discuss a book of your choosing via the magic of Skype.
This pilot episode has been put together to give you a flavour of how the episodes might go and the level of detail we can get into. In it we discuss Shirley Jackson's masterful tale of claustrophobia and lunacy in the confines of a happy family home - We Have Always Lived In The Castle. Neither horror, fantasy or sci-fi it still feels like our kind of book and is an absolutely fascinating read.
There are spoilers throughout, so be warned.
The missing element is you.
If you have a nomination for a genre book that you want to discuss with the Scrolls team, please contact us via e-mail at scrolls@hotmail.com or send me a tweet @Dion_Scrolls.
We will pick one out of the hat and make arrangements to record the episode with you at the next available opportunity. Get enough applicants and positive feedback and we may well make this a full time podcast. Until then we'll have it as an occasional Scrolls Special. It's in your hands people.

Dissecting Worlds - Season 2-7 Law & Order Conclusions
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 13 minutes and 36 secondsFinally the Dissecting Worlds pair get back on the beat and bring together the conclusions from series 2 on Law & Order and Crime & Punishment in this bumper episode. In so doing they look at the subject in Vampire fiction. They consider the seperation of the Judicary in genre fiction. Ask why does Jonah.J.Jameson hate spiderman? They also ponder the relationship between Babylon 5 security and the Chief Constable of South Wales. Sigmund Freud and TV's Sherlock help with enquiries, and Starfleet Security's job spec is considered. On the way they also consider the shady godlen dagger wielding almost respectable genre cousin of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror - Crime Fiction & telly - CSI ends up walking into a door taking the jury system with it and Morse may fall down some stairs. Harry Potter, Capes and Tights and Dredd also guest star, With some parochial Marvel movie news. Ed McBain & She Hulk are mentioned in dispatches. Kehhar gets confused bettween honor/guilt culture (refering to honour and face which are the same thing - the dolt!) & gets told off by his wife. It's just like an early epsiode of the Sweeney really but without the smoking.
They might even mention The Wire in an epsiode with more conclusions than the Return of the King movie. Email:dissectingworlds@yahoo.co.uk or twit Grampus @theGrampus or Kehaar @Clarkythecruel for feedback. Further opinionated nonsense available at Matt's Tolkien Gestures column on the geek syndicate site and roleplaying/wargaming rubbish from Kehaar at http://clarkythecruel.wordpress.com/ The excellent Harker mentioned is available from here: http://www.arielpress.com/about.html

Dissecting Worlds: Series 2 Episode 6 - Mass Effect
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 3 minutes and 39 secondsDissecting Worlds turns it's attention to the world of Computer Games and in particular Mass Effect (thanks Wedgedoc for the suggestion.) On the way they discuss the many influences and parallels on Spectres namely James Bond, Wild West Marshals, the operative from Serenity, the Jedi amongst others with nods to Dredd, The Wire, X-files and Mancuso FBI. See the blood boil and the rapiers get drawn at in a sidetrack into Roger Moores period as 007! Wonder at the parallels to the Citadel Council of the UN Secuirty Council pernament members & the Congress System. Gape at the consideration of Computer Games as fiction anyway and how their world building differs from books, flms, comics and between gaming genres. Feedback on the forums for perference but failing that email dissectingworlds@yahoo.co.uk or twitter @clarkythecruel (kehaar) or matt @the Grampus. Oh the book mentioned is Keeper of Corn, Binder of Bone found here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Binder-Bone-Keeper-Corn/dp/B003ZHVH6G/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1283379704&sr=1-1 "

Scrolls Middle Earth Special Part 2: Everybody's Tolkien At Me
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 39 minutes and 42 secondsOk, urgent pub visit done and dusted - look I had to get Summer out of the way so Clover could do a skype interview ok... don't you be judging me
Ok, blurb ahoy -
In which the awooga button is tossed on the ground and comprehensively stomped on so that everyone can get comfy and chat about the uber-fantasy that is Lord of the Rings.
Taking our cue from the Festival In The Shire we talk about the great works from all kinds of angles - discussing them in terms scholarly, as fans having a good time sharing our experiences, and as readers just celebrating Middle Earth for it's depth, history and grandeur. We also talk a load of old rot, giggle stupidly, mis-quote, mis-understand and mis-appropriate other peoples thoughts and theories.
But, you know, with style.
It's a monster show, so we've had to cut out the adaptations section just to keep it to a reasonable length. I'm guessing that could make a part 3 all of it's own at some point.

Dissecting Worlds series 2- Episode 5 Harry Potter & the Arguing Northerners
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 8 minutes and 0 secondsIn this spoiler filled outing the Lizard of Leeds & Wirral Seagull get to grips with jolly quidditch sticks, civil war, murder and death. Yes it's the Werner Hertzog banter that is the Potterverse a world of magic, mystery, genocide and govenrment incompetence. Natural fodder for the bantering Muggle bi-polarness that is Dissecting Worlds. We're looking at Law and Order with particular attention on the Ministry of Magic, Dumbeldore's Army, Order of the Pheonix & You-know-who. This leads us into a merry dance down the First World War, Nazis, the Ulster Defence Association, 2nd Amendment of the US Consitution, the deference between vigilantes & miltia amongst much else. And a hufftastic Quidditch argument. What's not to love? Sit down with your Butterbeer & Chocolate Frogs (or beverage & snacks of choice) and enjoy. Feedback to dissectignworlds@yahoo.co.uk or @clarkythecruel or @theGrampus on twitter or on the lovely forums. Compeition entries (beg) to the email address by 20th August. News on future episodes and series as well.
