In the 14-part "The Trail of a Time Lord," The Doctor must fight for his remaining lives against a supposedly immortal robot ("The Mysterious Planet"), a returned Sil ("Mindwarp"), vulgar-looking plant-monsters ("Terror of the Vervoids"), and his accuser: The Valeyard ("The Ultimate Foe")! As Dan and Mike say goodbye to Peri and Colin Baker, they greet Mel, have fun with the Vervoid costumes, and Mike discovers a new fetish: grannies with assault rifles.

Blog: Romans Cutaway (Short Story)
Drunken Time Travel
Romans Cutaway written by David A McIntee is one of the short stories in the second BBC Short Trips collection called More Short Trips. It takes place in the same gap as Byzantium but naturally is much shorter. If there’s a gap in a Doctor Who story, you can be guaranteed that someone somewhere’ll fill it with a novel or an audioplay. Having said that it’s not a bad short story.
After the TARDIS falls off the cliff, the crew is knocked out while Ian has a dream about Barbara being in a car crash. We’ve all had that. They all gradually wake up and find that the Ship has crashed to the bottom of a cliff. Ian leaves the TARDIS first to find it’s on it’s side so helps everyone else out. They should’ve dematerialised while he was outside! Barbara and Ian remain and try to get the TARDIS on it’s right way up while the Doctor and Vicki explore to see if they can find a village or house. The righting of the Ship is a lot more difficult than they expected in the heat so they have a rest. They can go up against Daleks and the Voord yet they can’t put a box on it’s side. Meanwhile the others have found a villa and discovered they’re in the Roman empire, presumably from the sign “Welcome to the Roman empire” but with the motto in English. In the villa they see blood on the floor (non dance) in front of a curtain. The Doctor goes to find out what’s behind it with cane in hand. It is revealed to be a man called Lucius who is caring for the villa while his master is in Gaul. He is dying after having been attacked by a lion that has escaped. Good thing the Doctor has that cane handy. Before Lucius dies, the Doctor agrees to care for the villa. Then Vicki remembers about Ian and Barbara unaware that there’s a loose lion, so the Doctor goes to warn them. Back at the TARDIS, it seems the warning is too late, the lion is inching towards Barbara until Ian throws a rock at it. The lion follows Ian as he leads it to a unstable rock shelf which collapses and he kills the lion. Poor lion. First Barbara murders pets now he murders innocent animals. He then collapses again and has the same dream as before until he wakes in the villa. He talks to Barbara and admits to himself he loves her but can’t tell her. Unbeknownst to him, she already knows. Along with all of the Western world.
So we have another reference to Barbara and Ian's feelings for each other, in this case Ian falling for Barbara, even almost going as far to say that he loves her. I wish there was more reference to this in the TV show but understand that would've taken a back seat to the main stories.

Doctor Who - 'Worlds in Time' - Video Game Review
Impossible Podcasts - science fiction, fantasy & Doctor Who fan commentaries For such a diverse show, Doctor Who has always stuggled when it comes to video games. Could Worlds in Time be the one to buck the trend? Olivia Cottrell takes her virtual TARDIS for a spin...
Pity the Doctor Who fan who also happens to be a video game geek. While the Doctor might initially seem a perfect fit for the video game world - his universe of strange aliens, dramatic stories and quirky characters is already one with a touch of the virtual about it - the franchise’s attempts to cross into video games have so far been decidedly lacklustre. While perfectly decent for free titles, a clunky control system and broken AI meant that the recent range of downloadable 3D Adventure Games were frequently frustrating experiences. As someone who considers herself both a video games nerd (I’ve spent too many hours shouting at dragons over the past month to successfully argue otherwise) and a Doctor Who fan, I was ready for something more satisfying.

Doctor Who Podcast - DWO WhoCast - #230
Doctor Who Podcast: DWO WhoCastLet's get something clear, Neil Perryman from Adventures With The Wife In Space/Tachyon TV. It's pronounced JELL Guards. That's JELL Guards. Do you see? JELL. Anyway, Dave 'n Siobhan look at the Revisitations 3 Box-set - which includes The Three Doctors with the Gell Guards (pronounced JELL!), Tomb Of The Cybermen and Robots Of Death.

032 – The Grand Derailment
Arrow of TimeOn this sort-of-regularly-scheduled podcast, we talk about the newest episode of Doctor Who! Which is what I would say if there was one. Instead, we use the (exceedingly) flimsy premise of series six prequels to deliver nigh on 30 minutes of some of our most random and vaguely related Who content. No musical breaks, no WhoTube, just pure unadulterated chatter! It’s surprisingly entertaining, so give a listen, won’t you?
Oops, totally lied about WhoTube, because here it is. This video’s been making the rounds, and it’s worth a watch: “Every Doctor Who Story 1963 to Now – A Babelcolour Tribute” http://youtu.be/iN5jPQdJXYE

Episode 60: The Farscape Episode
Doctor Who: The TARDIS TavernBecause we can't talk about Doctor Who all the time, we thought we'd do a complete 180 this time and talk about a different science fiction show that isn't so, um...well, Doctor Who-ee. Radio Free Skaro #291 - That Which Survives
Doctor Who: Radio Free SkaroA simple commentary about "Closing Time," which gave the Three Who Rule ample time to discuss the great chemistry between Matt Smith and guest star James Corden, instead devolved into a simply rancid discussion on babies and their propensity to poop on this episode of Radio Free Skaro. Our choice of topic says more about us than it does about the episode at hand, which was a delightful romp penned by Gareth Roberts and not at all a treatise on infants and their digestive habits. But leaving the puerile giggling aside for the moment, weighty matters as fictitious awards, possibly crappy video games and the life and quick death of Doctor Who Insider were also covered. All this and backhanded compliments aimed at Eric Roberts, and you've got yourself approximately an hour of a podcast of some sort!
Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com

FRS 33: ‘Destiny of The Daleks’ Tom Baker - Part One
Fast Return SwitchOur audio troubles are all fixed this week! I’m particularly proud of how this one turned out!
This week we cover a story featuring something called ‘The Daleks’. I’d Never heard of them before but actually found them to be one of The Doctors more compelling adversaries. It’s a shame they only ever featured in this one story arc as I feel they had some potential.
If any listener has heard of these ‘Daleks’ appearing in any spin off novels or Fan fiction or anything, could you let me know? Post a comment at our blog, maybe? It can be found at FRSwitch.blogspot.com I’d love to know more about them.
I’m not keen on that ‘Dave Ross’ fellow though. He needs to take more care of his skin.

The Doctor Who Podcast Episode #119 – coverage of the Big Blue Box Convention, interviews with Louise Jameson, Tom Spilsbury, Simon Guerrier and event organiser Stephen Elsden
The Doctor Who PodcastJames and Ian were lucky enough to spend the day at the Big Blue Box Convention, and were lucky enough to secure some excellent coverage of the event.
One of the events at the convention was a screening of Cleaning Up, written by Simon Guerrier, who is heavily involved with the Big Finish range, and directed by Thomas Guerrier.
James caught up with Simon and chatted with him about this new short film.
Also in this episode are interviews with Tom Spilsbury, current editor of Doctor Who Magazine and Stephen Elsden, organiser of the Big Blue Box Convention.
At the end of a hectic day, James and Ian had the opportunity to chat to none other than Louise Jameson, best known as playing Leela from 70s Doctor Who alongside Tom Baker. She stars in Cleaning Up, and chatted to James about the film and her time on Doctor Who.
A big thanks to the Guerrier Brothers and Stephen Elsden for making The Doctor Who Podcast so welcome on the day and for the opportunity to secure these fantastic interviews.

THE UNQUIET DEAD REVIEW

On an unusually serious note, our friend and correspondent, Robert Haynes is seriously ill in hospital at the moment. He has contracted an infection while having difficulties with a stoma bag. He is in intensive care under enduced coma in the hope that his body can recover from the infection. We all miss him and are very worried. Thank you to all of you who have sent good will messages via all means of feedback. If you have a God, please pray for Robert and his family during this difficult time.

Doctor Who - Who's He? #45 With one hundred tin soldiers
Doctor Who - Who's He?It's audio commentary time again! This week, the lads bring part you the second part of their commentary for The Invasion Parts 5 to 8. This time, they run out steam as Tony was all facted out and Phil resorts to making sexist remarks about women of the sixties (and tries to justify it) whilst Paul keeps a dignified silence. Tony also does something that makes Phil swear which results in the use of a 'beep', the first in the history of this podcast.

Tim and Max Solve All The Problems With Popular Culture: Episode 2 - Hypersexualisation
Geek SyndicateTim and Max Solve All The Problems With Popular Culture is STILL the newest podcast in the stable of winged horses that is the Geek Syndicate Network.
The podcast aims to do exactly what it says on the tin – young bucks Tim Swann (@tetrarchangel on twitter) of Psycomedia and Max Barnard (@maxy_barnard on twitter) of You Must Hear This identify a key area where popular geek culture falls down and then try and come up with some ways that both the creators and the audience can fix it.
In our second episode, we discuss hypersexualisation, and how the great and the good can fall down (at least in Tim's fragile mind and innocent eyes) by sex getting in the way of their art, and the bad can make everything worse with their impact on sexuality in and out of the arts. But don't worry, there are solutions too! Harry Potter fan-fic features more than you might like.

Radio Free Skaro #290 - Whom Gods Destroy
Doctor Who: Radio Free SkaroAh, that's the January we remember. The Christmas Special aired weeks ago, it's a long time until new Doctor Who (even longer than usual) and there's really not too much going on in the Who world. But there's always Gallifrey! A bit of Gally news and banter helps, well, fill more time in our time-filling series of commentaries. The Three Who Rule lads get the privilege of being able to announce another guest for our live show, Radio Free Skaro and the World of Tomorrow and rehash Toby Whithouse's The God Complex, a mindbleep episode that split opinions when it went out. Join us for the ride!
